Manuplas factory move signals new phase in company's development
Manuplas UK Limited, one of the UK's leading manufacturers of composite materials for the marine industry and owners of the Hippo Leisure brand, have further increased their production capacity and capabilities with a move to a new 45 000 square foot manufacturing site on the outskirts of Plymouth.
The new site in Estover, which now features leading edge moulding and composite technologies, has enabled Manuplas to increase production across their two key business streams: Hippo Marine and Hippo Leisure.
Through the Hippo Marine brand, Manuplas has built a global reputation for materials technology and engineering excellence in the use of polyurethane and epoxy-based composite materials to produce a range of large-scale buoyancy and sub-sea equipment for the marine industry. The move will now enable them to increase production across the whole range whilst significantly reducing lead times.
Manuplas are also expanding their Hippo Leisure range of wet-play equipment for swimming pools, leisure centres and holiday parks. Existing customers such as Local Authorities and private leisure clubs will now be able to choose from an extended product range with quicker turnaround times.
"Over the last 3 years we have trebled the size of our business to over £3m pa to the point where we had outgrown our old premises. Since moving to the new site, we have really been able to step up a gear," explains Manuplas Sales and Marketing Director, Claire Mollet. " Our customers expect us to act as a seamless extension of their R&D, design or engineering teams and this increased capacity has enabled us to do just that. We can now fulfil orders more quickly, offer a wider range of products and continue our own R&D with enhanced engineering and technological capabilities to ensure we are always one step ahead."
